Gord Downie's The Secret Path and a post-show CBC Arts live panel on the road to reconciliation.
Movie length 60 minutes. Panel discussion begins at 59:45.
The Secret Path is a collaboration between musician Gord Downie and graphic novelist Jeff Lemire, who created a graphic novel, album and animated film (which aired on the CBC on Oct. 23, 2016). This project aims to shed light on a dark part of Canada's history by telling the story of Chanie (Charlie) Wenjack. Chanie was a twelve-year-old boy who died on October 23, 1966, from exposure and hunger after fleeing the Cecilia Jeffrey Indian Residential School near Kenora, Ontario, to find his family who lived over 600 kms away.
