Searching for Background Information

Searching for Books in the St. David PAC (Public Access Catalogue) 

  • Open the PAC and enter your search term(s) for example philosophy
  • View the Results and select Filters to narrow your search
    • Format --> and select Book
    • Collection --> and select Nonfiction
  • Check the Results and select an Available (Checked In) book and record the call number
    • for example the book One hundred philosophers : the life and work of the world's greatest thinkers  
    • has the Shelf Location Nonfiction - 109.2 KIN
      • will be in the nonfiction stacks (tall shelves) in the 100 Philosophy & psychology section
      • look on the ends of the shelves for Dewey Decimal number ranges
  • If the book is not available, speak to the librarian about placing a Hold
  • No book in the library on your topic? Speak to librarian and make a book recommendation for consideration.
